Thorsten's 30th birthday

... last week was really uneventful!

We tried to get in touch with a friendly local couple (he is in IT; she's a Sign Language Interpreter, they are about our age) we met up with a few days after we arrived -- but she was working late and he was sick, so that didn't work out.

Instead, we decided to go out to the next-door bar after dinner. But thanks to it being Friday night, a forbidding queue of people wanting to get in soon convinced us that there wasn't much of a point in trying.

So we went home, Thorsten (having bought a lot of beer) drank a lot of beer, we watched the movie Date Night and went to bed late -- and thus ended his Big Night.

A few days later, T bought himself a iPad that he has been enamoured with ever since, so that helped a little I think.
